eduroam allows students, researchers and staff from participating institutions to obtain Internet connectivity across campus and when visiting other participating institutions by simply opening their laptop


“For the mexican education institutions will be a great opportunity to deploy a mobile communication service which permits to extend new opportunities to communicate through the Internet for the academic community when they are visiting any other location, also to a receiving visitor” commented Luis Castro, responsble for the eduroam in Mexico.


“Currently every institution which is participating has their pilots is working in a process it approve for their internal policies to put out in production their service, CUDI has its own server in production, the next step will be to integrate new institutions which are interested in deploying eduroam in their institutions. With the project MAGIC six new institutions add their forces to upgrade and update the eduroam service. Mexico hopes in short time to reach all institutions that are CUDI's members have to the opportunity to count with eduroam”, added Luis Castro.


At the present time CUDI's members that are participating are UNAM (National Autonomous University of Mexico) and UAM (Metropolitan Autonomous University) who are taking the leadership like the first institutions to deployment eduroam service for their academic campus.
